How To Change The Language of Google Chrome in a Few Steps

Google Chrome browser supports more than 100 languages, so using this web browser in your language is easy, even in another country or browsing results in another language. In this article, we show you how to change the wording of Chrome.

1. First, Change The Language Settings.

Changing the language used in Google Chrome only requires a few steps, and while the process may seem complicated, the operation is relatively easy to perform.

The below steps are taken with the latest Chrome version on Microsoft Windows 10, although you can apply the same procedure on an Apple Mac or a Chrome OS device such as a Chromebook.

Step 1: Launch your Google Chrome web browser on your device and go to the menu button at your Chrome window’s top right. Three vertical dots represent the menu button.

Step 2: Select “Settings” at the bottom of the menu. Alternatively, you can also quickly get to the Settings menu by typing chrome: // settings / in the address bar of your Google Chrome browser.

Step 3: Once you are in the chrome settings menu, scroll to the bottom of the list and click on “Advanced settings” to view additional options.

Step 4: Keep scrolling down until you see “Languages.” Click or tap on “Languages,” or the right down arrow to see more options.

Step 5: By clicking “Add languages” you can add a new language

Step 6: You can scroll through the available languages and click the one you want to add or type the language you wish to put to the search bar. After you have selected the desired language, click the “Add” button at the bottom right.

Step 7: The New languages are automatically added to the bottom of the list.

Suppose you have more than one language selected. In that case, you can use the menu button, represented by the three dots to the right of each language on your list, to reorder the selected languages, or to remove any languages that you don’t need or use.

Once you are done with the changes, you can close the Settings tab in your browser or exit Google Chrome Browser. The following changes will be saved and updated automatically.

2. How to display Google Chrome in a new language or translate pages

Once you have added your language, you will want to enable it for Google Chrome to use.

Step 1: You must go to the “Languages” settings until Step 4 of the previous guide. Click the menu button to the desired language’s right, which is represented by the three vertical dots.

Step 2: A pop-up window will appear. You can select the first box to “Show Google Chrome in this language.”

The relaunch button will appear next to the languages. You will need to restart Chrome to apply the new settings.

With the new language enabled, when you visit a website or page in this language, the Google Translate translation pop-up will not appear. For example, if you have to choose to show googler Chrome in English (UK), Google Translate will not appear when visiting the Amazon portal.

But if you still want Google to translate to appear – even when you visit a page written in the same language you use for Chrome – you’ll need to navigate to the Chrome language and click the menu next to the language you want. You should make sure that the “Offer to translate pages in this language” box is checked.

If you don’t want to make these configuration changes, keep in mind that Google has a dedicated translation website that you can easily translate texts or documents. If you regularly translate the pieces you find online, you may want to download the Google Translate extension better to use it more easily.
